Young photographer Carmel Bechler discovered several barn owls in an abandoned concrete building near a busy road. The Wildlife Photographer of the Year, in its 59th year, is produced by the Natural History Museum of London. By showcasing the diversity of life on Earth, the competition hopes to inspire people to care and advocate for the natural world.
